Matthew AppletonMatt is a specialist musculoskeletal and sports Podiatrist who has specialised in musculoskeletal medicine for over thirty years and established multiple, successful Australian businesses. Matt has held club podiatrist positions with Melbourne, Western Bulldogs and St Kilda Football Clubs, Melbourne Victory F.C and the Victorian cricket team. He has treated elite athletes from a vast array of sporting codes including being a Consultant Podiatrist at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Matt has held a specialist position at the Alfred Hospital, consulting with the Orthopaedic Units and the TAC. In 1995, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine. Matt has extensive experience with the design and use of orthotic therapy in assisting in the management of sporting injuries, trauma or arthritis. Matt introduced the first full automated CAD CAM orthotic manufacturing system in Australia at Peninsula Podiatric Laboratory in the early 90’s and shortly afterwards the first non-weight bearing foot laser scanner, replacing plaster casting in orthotic prescriptions for podiatrists. In the early 2000’s Matt put together a team to create a truly unique speciality running shoe store offering gait evaluation in store. In 2002 Active Feet opened in Prahran and grew to be four stores strong with Matt as the Chairman. A position he held until Dec 2015 when he elected to sell his interest in Active Feet. Matt interests and expertise covers all aspects of foot and ankle injury / trauma, including sporting / overuse injuries, arthritic joint pain and rehabilitation advice post elective or reconstructive foot surgery. Matt is available to people of all ages. Matt devotes his spare time to, cycling, swimming, bush walking and farming Angus cattle in Mansfield. |
